Sergio — Central Valley Roofer, Serving Tulare & Beyond.
Sergio built CenCal Roof Restore because he watched too many Central Valley homeowners get pushed toward $15,000 tear-off replacements on roofs that still had a decade of life left in them — if they were treated right.
After years working Valley roofs, he saw the same pattern: shingles weren't structurally failing, they were dried out. The oils that keep asphalt shingles flexible and waterproof had simply evaporated under our sun. Replacing those oils — not the whole roof — was the honest fix.
Today CenCal delivers GreenSoy™ rejuvenation to homeowners across Tulare, Visalia, Hanford and the surrounding Valley — with the same rule on every job: if your roof doesn't qualify, we'll tell you honestly.
Why Asphalt Shingles Actually Fail.
An asphalt shingle isn't just gravel glued to a mat. It's a matrix of asphalt binder, fine maltenes (the oil fraction that keeps the binder flexible), a fiberglass mat, and a mineral granule top layer. The maltenes are what make a shingle behave like a shingle — flexible enough to expand and contract without cracking, sticky enough to hold granules, and hydrophobic enough to shed water.
Under Central Valley UV and 100°+ heat, those maltenes oxidize and evaporate. Once they're gone, the binder becomes brittle. The shingle micro-cracks with every temperature swing. Granules stop adhering and start washing down the gutters. The roof looks "aged" — but structurally the mat is often still sound. Traditional roofers see the granule loss and curling, diagnose it as end-of-life, and quote a full replacement. That's the misdiagnosis.
GreenSoy™ is a soy-derived rejuvenator engineered to penetrate the shingle mat and replace the maltenes it lost. It's not a topical coating — coatings sit on top of shingles and eventually peel. GreenSoy™ absorbs into the asphalt matrix and re-plasticizes it from the inside, restoring flexibility, adhesion and water shedding.
Independent Lab Results.
| Test | Result |
|---|---|
| Shingle flexibility | Restored to near-new (measured via ASTM bend testing) |
| Granule adhesion (hail impact) | 0% granule loss in impact testing |
| Water shedding | Restored to like-new absorption resistance |
| Estimated added shingle life | Up to 18 years, subject to shingle eligibility |
| USDA BioPreferred certification | Certified bio-based product |

The Environmental Case for Rejuvenation.
Roughly 11 million tons of asphalt shingles are torn off American roofs and hauled to landfills every single year. Every one of those tear-offs is a truck, a dumpster and a landfill fee for shingles that in many cases still had years of protective life left — they just needed their oils restored.
Rejuvenation is the zero-tear-off alternative. Nothing gets ripped off, nothing goes to the landfill, and a bio-based, USDA-certified soy oil does the work that heat and UV undid. It's a better answer for the homeowner's wallet — and a materially better answer for the Valley we live in.
